Banana-pillar
The Banana-pillar was a public art piece I was commissioned to create for downtown Ithaca, NY. It stands over five feet tall and is a whopping seven feet long. This sculpture has a custom steel skeleton with eight supporting legs strategically welded to provide the maximum strength and stability. The initial shape of the banana was formed with paper and tape. The hard coat of the banana peel consists of three layers of fiberglass, a thin coat of automotive body filler. The banana was painted with bright yellow automotive paint and clear coated.
