Bubbles

“Bubbles” was an interactive art project I was commissioned to create for the Ithaca Visitor Bureau. I designed and installed the piece 30 feet above the ground on the roof of the Tompkins Trust Company on the Ithaca, NY downtown Commons.

This minimalist sculpture consists of a custom fabricated wood armature that allowed me to pile close to a hundred 12" plastic globes without having them roll away. The globes were affixed to the wooden armature using steel wire. Each was wired with multiple LED lights and programmed to pulse at night randomly. I was able to control the lights from the ground through a Bluetooth connection between my phone and a controller housed in a waterproof box on the roof.
